Sandstone walls under slate roofs mark out some of the early 19th century villas in Tunbridge Wells, and anyone working on them has to understand both materials. We are Heritage Crest Build, a family business that has spent 20+ years building in Kent and the South East. In Tunbridge Wells we take on the building, the roofing and the painting and decorating within the same job, so a house can be repaired, extended and finished without you juggling separate firms.
Our own staff cover the carpentry and joinery, plumbing and heating, electrics, plastering and decorating, and subcontractors we have used for years handle the remainder. Each week the owner spends time on every site, and the people who price your work are the people who do it. You keep one contact for the whole job, be it a re-roof or a loft conversion. Every enquiry gets an answer within two working days.
Some Tunbridge Wells jobs need one trade, such as a kitchen fit or a new bathroom. Others, like house extensions or barn conversions in the countryside beyond the town, start with groundworks and bring every trade in. Each service below opens a page of finished work.
Our Services
Calverley Park shows the town's traditional materials well. Decimus Burton drew up the design in 1828, and over the following decade most of its villas went up in large blocks of Tunbridge Wells stone under slate roofs. Early 19th century boundary walls of the same sandstone are listed in their own right. Out in the wooded farmland around Speldhurst, the borough's landscape assessment lists timber frames, sandstone and clay bricks and tiles as the traditional materials. Repairs to houses like these call for matching stone and slate, careful repointing and original details kept. Our period restoration page shows that side of our work.
Planning applications for the town go to Tunbridge Wells Borough Council. Royal Tunbridge Wells is one of the larger conservation areas in the borough, and around 70% of the borough lies within the High Weald National Landscape, so the design of an extension matters as much as its size. We prepare the drawings and applications ourselves. Beyond the town centre we work across the parishes around it, including Southborough, Rusthall, Speldhurst, Bidborough, Pembury and Brenchley and Matfield.
In Tunbridge Wells itself we turned a loft into two new double bedrooms with a new en-suite bathroom, then carried out the internal decoration throughout.
A short drive away in Matfield, we laid a Brett's Beta block paved driveway in Silver Haze with granite sett edging, a granite sett rumble strip at the entrance gate and recessed LED lighting round the perimeter. In the same village we built a contemporary porcelain patio with silicone render raised planters and garden steps lit by recessed LED wall lights. Over the county line in Wadhurst, East Sussex, we laid a reclaimed Yorkstone terrace, retained by walls of reclaimed ragstone, with garden steps and new planting. In Tonbridge we fitted a new slate tiled roof and a warm insulated felt flat roof to a new build, part of our roofing work across the area.
