Several of our Folkestone jobs have been on the roofs, rendered walls and outside joinery of houses and terraces along the seafront. Heritage Crest Build is a family-run company of builders and roofers who have worked across Kent and the South East for 20+ years, on homes, commercial premises and farm buildings. In Folkestone we have re-roofed a seafront property in clay tiles, laid a GRP flat roof and carried out chimney leadwork.
When the roofers finish, our painters and decorators can take over. Plastering, joinery and decorating are all in-house trades, so cracked render and tired window frames are repaired by the same team that paints them. The owner is on every job at some point in the week. You speak to one person throughout, and that person helps build what they quoted, so nothing is lost between the estimate and the work.
Our Services
Roofing and exterior painting are only part of the list. We also build house extensions, fit kitchens and bathrooms, and handle groundworks and driveways, and each Folkestone job starts with a free site survey and a written quotation.
Folkestone became a resort after the railway reached it in 1843. The Earls of Radnor developed their West Cliff Estate along The Leas, employing architects such as Decimus Burton and Sydney Smirke, and its wide, tree-lined streets were built up with grand stuccoed terraces and paired villas. The Leas and the old town around The Bayle fall within the Folkestone Leas and Bayle Conservation Area, first designated in 1972. Sandgate has separate conservation areas for its High Street and its Esplanade, and its listed houses include a group of eight Italianate marine villas from 1847.
On a rendered house near the sea, we repair cracked render and bare timber before any repainting starts. Planning is handled by Folkestone and Hythe District Council, called Shepway District Council until 2018. Behind the town, the chalk scarp is part of the Kent Downs National Landscape, with the conical Sugarloaf Hill and the earthworks of Caesar's Camp on Castle Hill as local landmarks. The same protected landscape takes in Stowting, Postling and Lyminge. Along the coast, we have also worked in Seabrook and Hythe.
Recent Work
On a seafront property in Folkestone we carried out extensive render repairs, along with chimney and joinery repairs, before decorating the whole exterior in Dulux Weathershield, which carries an 8 year paint protection guarantee. We have also built an extension in the town and fitted a bathroom at Seabrook. At Hythe we laid a block paved driveway in Brett's Silver Haze and carried out the soft landscaping, and at Barham we fitted a stepped Code 6 lead valley to a detached house.
At Stowting, in the Kent Downs, one of our barn conversions turned a barn into a substantial detached family home with a new access drive and soft landscaping. Its featheredge cladding, bargeboards and fascias were painted in a black satin barn paint, the rooms were decorated in Farrow & Ball, Little Greene and Lick paints, and the exposed oak beams were treated and protected. At Sellindge we built a brick terrace garden with a riven sandstone patio, a bullnose sandstone bench seat and LED planter lighting.
Three of these jobs are in Folkestone itself, two of them on the seafront, and the fourth is a block paved driveway in Hythe.
